Pump Systems Assessment: Body of Knowledge
In response to an industry need for a standardized approach to conducting pump system assessments, the Hydraulic Institute (HI) has developed the Pump Systems Assessment: Body of Knowledge (PSABOK). Developed by subject matter experts and industry leaders, HI has collected and harmonized the various factors that comprises a pump system assessment into a comprehensive and easy to understand guide.

Scope: The scope of pumps included in the Program are limited to pumps identified in the energy conservation standard developed by the US Department of Energy (DOE) and listed in Section 40.5.1.7 of this document (hereinafter referred to as the "guiding standards").
Hydraulic Institute Standard for Methods for Rotodynamic Pump Efficiency Testing (HI 40.6-2016 - Secure PDF)
Scope: HI 40.6 is intended to be used for efficiency testing at pump test facilities or laboratories only. Industry experience shows that it is very difficult to perform measurements accurate enough to satisfy the requirements in this standard when testing is performed in the field. Therefore field-testing is not permitted as a method of efficiency testing per this standard.
