TOPIC: This two-part webinar will cover the content within the recently published Drivers Application Guidebook for Electric Motors. It will include motor application as it relates to driving pumps, providing information to understand how a motor drives a pumping system, and how the motors are limited within certain pumping systems. The webinar will guide the audience in understanding application, installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of an electrical motor for general pumping applications.

This webinar will be presented by subject matter experts Jeff Bergman, Business Development Manager, ABB Drives and Patrick Hogg, Director of Marketing, Nidec Motor Corporation


  • Application considerations, including sizing and selection for load types, electrical requirements, service factor, insulation system, starting requirements, frame designations, mounting, and enclosures.
  • Installation considerations, including power quality and factor, protective devices, installation with a VFD, spacing, coupling, alignment, startup and commissioning.
  • Maintenance and troubleshooting considerations that are important to safe and proper operation, such as lubrication, motor alignment, bearings, windings, vibration, temperature, and power quality.


AUDIENCE: This webinar is designed for experienced industry personnel who are interested in learning more about the application, installation, and troubleshooting of electric motors in pumping applications.

DURATION: Each webinar will last approximately 45 minutes with 15 minutes allowed for Q&A with the instructor.

Participants of the live session will earn one (1) PDH credit per session for a total of two (2) PDH credits. Please be advised that PDH credits are only available for registered participants of the live webinar. Each individual registration is for one (1) person and not intended to be viewed as a group.
