Poor piping design may adversely affect the performance and reliability of a pumping system, and well-designed piping systems are typically more energy efficient than poorly designed systems. This course discusses the ANSI/HI 9.6.6 Pump Piping standard and provides specific instruction on new content in the standard. It also provides examples and case studies to demonstrate the application of the standard and the impact of the revisions.

Learning Objectives:

  • Understand the ANSI/HI 9.6.6 Pump Piping standard and the changes in the new (2016) edition
  • Understand the various piping requirements in the standard and how to apply them
  • Understand the effects and interactions of inlet (suction) and outlet (discharge) piping on rotodynamic pump performance
  • Understand and be able to apply the new requirements and guidance in the standard
